MAJ (RET) MARGARET L. JEFFERSON

MAJ Jefferson is a chartered, Life Member of NABMW and has proudly served as the South-East Regional Chairperson since 2010.  Born and reared in Meridian, MS, MAJ Jefferson retired in Ellenwood, GA, (suburbs of Atlanta) from the U.S Army/Army Reserve in 1995 and from Civil Service in 2006.   She is divorced with one son, Benjamin F May, II, a daughter in law (Misty) and two grandchildren; Olivia Grace May and Benjamin F. May, III.

After graduating from Harris High School in 1963 (Meridian), she remained there for one year at Harris Jr. College on a basketball scholarship.   In the 1964 she transferred to Alcorn A&M College, Lorman, MS, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education, 1967.

After receiving a Direct Commission with the rank of First Lieutenant in the Army in Nov 1974, MAJ Jefferson began her career as a Finance Officer in Jan 1975. 

​

MAJ Jefferson served as a US Army Officer (Active and Reserve) and US government employee with over 30 years of government service (10+ years as an Active Army Officer, 10+ years as an Army Reserve Officer and 20 years as an Army Reserve Military Technician), culminating in the rank of Major for the Department of the Army and United States Army Reserve. She is experienced in areas of Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution, Personnel Management, Equal Opportunity, Training/Schools and Personnel Security Management.  In government circles, MAJ Jefferson is regarded as a “double dipper”.
